What is expected of Youth Empowered Support (YES) advisor and what are the benefits?
Bent County "YES" Youth Adviser:
• The youth adviser should be willing to work with the Bent County Community Center "YES" Program.
• YES, works to prevent youth substance use and addresses current issues impacting our youth as we rely on input from community members, including youth. We will accomplish our goals through youth driven programs and activities!
Mission:
The primary mission of Youth Empowered Support (YES) is to empower local young people to reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community engagement. We will achieve this by developing programs that focus on positive youth development; civic engagement; skill building; leadership development; in a safe inclusive environment.
Purpose:
To make a positive impact on our community by developing and supporting youth focused programs and outreach.
Goal:
To enhance the positive qualities our local youth already possess.
Duties of a YES youth advisor:
• Provide insight and guidance on a variety of topics and issues.
• Teamwork with peers and adults on projects.
• Attend YES Outreach and Youth Involvement workgroup meetings once a month for 1-1.5 hours. Meeting dates and time TBD.
• Engage with community members and organizations to facilitate activities.
• Help plan and attend community presentations or events.
Requirements:
• Experience living or working in the Las Animas/ Bent County community.
• Willingness to give presentations and speak publicly.
• Willingness to attend monthly meetings.
• Experience with social media is preferred but not expected.
• Must be between 9 and 25 years old.

What is the process for being selected a YES YOUTH ADVISOR?
- Complete the online registration/application form.
- The YES TEAM will review all applications and invite potential candidates to an interview. WE WILL START INTERVIEWS ON SEPTEMBER-26TH.2025 from 2pm-5pm. You will be contacted by staff, and we will schedule a 15-minute time frame for you.
- If selected, you will be notified by the Director (Robert Arguello).
- The YES Advisors will meet once a month for program related activities, events, planning, etc.
- Once selected you can participate as long as you feel comfortable. We will periodically "check in" with all advisors to ensure they are still committed to our mission and to offer support.
